“TRASHED” is a collection of tales about romance, heartbreak, and the understanding or lack of understanding of the thing we call love.
I begin with a physical image. In this case, trash. Specifically, the bagged remains of Hurricane Sandy left in heaps, street side in Chelsea. This is the platform from which I leap.
There are many ways to get trashed and it can certainly happen with matters of the heart. Some of the paintings are informed by poems, some by song, and some by a character I know called Pierre. My desire is to momentarily harness logic, instinct and guesswork. It is an adventure of experiment and intent woven together. -J.L.
